Municipal Corporation of Ujjain
Municipal Corporation of Ujjain is administered by the Madhya Pradesh Municipal Corporation Act 1956. The managerial system consist of political and the executive division. The political wing is a designated body of councilors from diverse wards headed by the Mayor. The executive wing is governed by the commissioner and takes care of the day to day operation and decision making. Established in the year 1886 as Nagar Palika, the Municipal Corporation of Ujjain was declared on par with Gwalior Municipal Corporation. From the year 1930 the people began electing their corporators. The municipal commissioner is backed by an Assistant Municipal Commissioner. Municipal Corporation of Ujjain is located in Malipura, the central hub of the city.

Corporation Elections in Ujjain
Elections to the Municipal Corporation of Ujjain are conducted every five years. The District Collector’s Office oversees preparation of the electoral rolls for national and state elections. At present the Bharatiya Janata Party is holding majority in the Ujjain Corporation where the election was held in 2013. Other parties like Indian National Congress (INC) and Bahujan Samaj Party are also operational in the regions of Ujjain.
